The Knox County Commissioners and County Council are still considering their options, following a re-formulating of the Community Crossings Matching Grant. For the last eight years, the C-C-M-G has allowed millions of dollars of infrastructure and paving improvements statewide.
However, a new formula could affect the amount Knox County would get in that funding. Parts of the updated funding may center on a wheel tax that, right now, Knox County does not have. Knox County Commissioners president T-J Brink says County leaders are currently considering their option.
The Commissioners are currently discussing their budgetary presentation before Knox County Council. Traditionally, Council’s budget hearing and setting process is held in September.
