The Vincennes 10-year 0ld Green team will play a Cal Ripken World Series Championship quarterfinal game against fellow Indiana team Crown Point . It was also announced that there will be no admission charge for any of the Cal Ripken games today or tomorrow.
Yesterday, the Vincennes Greens got a walk-off six-inning single by Grant Deckard to defeate West Raleigh, North Carolina 2-1. Burke McCarter pitched five innings of scoreless ball, with Kolten McCarter pitching the sixth to get the win on the walk-off single.
The Vincennes White team was eliminated in the Ironman bracket of the Cal Ripken World Series, with a 9-7 loss to Puerto Rico. The Vincennes White team rallied from a 4-0 deficit to tie the game at four, fell behind 9-4 in the fifth, and scored three in the sixth with the tying runs on base when the game ended. Both the Ironman and the Championship brackets have their finals tomorrow afternoon.
Vincennes Lincoln will host North Knox in a Football scrimmage on Friday night. The action
begins at 7pm at Inman Field.
Pike Central defeated both North Knox and South Knox in a girls’ golf match at Prides Creek Park in Petersburg. Abby Noland was low scorer for North Knox with a 49, while Olivia Catt paced South Knox with a 50.
A positive scrimmage was reported for the Vincennes Lincoln boys’tennis team last night at North Posey. Coach Brycr Crane reported leads in 12 of the 15 overall scrimmage matches. All non-football teams are allowed to start their seasons tomorrow; football scrimmages are tonight, with football Week One set for a week from tonight.
