Various small business entrepreneurs and other leaders spoke out about a proposed zeroing-out of Knox County funding for the Pantheon Business Theatre. During the meeting, Council president T-J Brink called the used of economic development income tax funding for the Pantheon, in his view, a “drain on the taxpayer.” He also added the final decision is up to Knox County Council, if they wish to add the funding back in as part of the County’s budget.
Among those speaking to retain the Pantheon funding was K-C-I-E-D director Chris Pfaff. Pfaff—who also is on the Pantheon Board of Directors—defends the Pantheon’s impact here and across the state. Pfaff also points to another program under consideration to build business on Vincennes’ Main Street.
Among others speaking for the funding is Knox County Commissioner Kellie Streeter. She feels the Pantheon should be funded like the K-C-I-E-D, since the two share the same focus and vision.
