The Vincennes Redevelopment Commission heard some concerns about parts of the proposed “Firehouse Flats” development in downtown Vincennes. The 89 unit apartment complex would be located in the current Fireman’s Park area near the City Parking lot off Vigo Stret.
The concerns are based on possible problems with parking, and a narrow alley way near the rear of some businesses fronting Main Street. The concerns also address lack of parking spaces for both the apartments and downtown businesses.
R-D-C member—and Vincennes City Councilman—Marc McNeece believes the problems are solvable. He also feels the City needs the units to help reverse a decline in population.
At this time, Firehouse Flats is in the planning stages. The concerns were prompted by drawings over the proposal’s use of parking, and exit routes from the building’s parking lot.
