Three mosquito samples collected in Daviess County have tested positive for West Nile virus.
The Daviess County Health Department is working with other local agencies in increasing treatment within the areas where the positive samples were identified.
State and local health officials recommend that all Hoosiers take steps to prevent mosquito-borne diseases including the use of insect repellent containing DEET and picaridin and wearing protective clothing.
That news follows the discovery of West Nile mosquitoes as well in Knox County; to this point, no cases of the disease have been found in either county.
