At least half of U.S. states plan to cut off food assistance benefits on November 1st because of the government shutdown.
The loss of assistance would affect millions of low-income citizens.
Some 25 states are sending out notices to people on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, that the checks won’t be coming next month, including Indiana.
