Indiana Senator Eric Bassler of Washington has become the seventh Republican to say he will not support redrawing the state’s congressional districts for next year’s election.
Bassler says in a statement that he “cannot support any mid-census redistricting plan,” adding he stands by the vote they took four years ago when they approved the current state and federal legislative maps.
He is not seeking reelection in 2026 and will leave office after 12 years.
Bassler represents District 39 which includes Daviess, Greene, Knox, and Martin counties and portions of Owen and Sullivan counties.
