The Lawrence County Illinois Board has approved its new budget for the next fiscal year. The new budget starts December first, and ends November 30th ,2026. The budget is projected with an over 126-thosuand dollar surplus.
Lawrence County Board officials also approved an over three million dollar tax levy for the 2025-26 tax season. That is a 20 percent increase in property rate for the coming property tax season. In a related truth-in-taxation hearing, County officials blame both Illinois’ 15 dollar an hour minimum wage, and higher insurance premiums, as reasons for the steep jump in property taxes for the coming year.
