Vincennes Water Utilities continues laying out reasons for a possible rate increase sometime next year. An increase would happen if it is approved by both the Vincennes Utility Services Board and Vincennes City Council.
Vincennes Warer Utilities is completely owned by the City of Vincennes. Therefore, V-W-U general manager Kirk Bouchie says the City can require them to make a significant PILOT payment—or payment in lieu of taxes. That payment was never requested before. However, Bouchie knows it could happen now, with expected budget cuts caused by the state’s property tax relief law.
If a rate increase is approved, it would be the first for Vincennes Water Utilities in the last decade.
