The Knox County Commissioners continue their re-boot of a space study plan that was shelved earlier this year. An earlier verision of the space study was halted due to a higher than expected price tag.
With the first plan off the table, the Commissioners are considering how to proceed in making more space for County officials. One of the parts of the earlier proposal was demolishing the current County Central Dispatch center, and reshaping it into a judicial center. Knox County Commissioner T-J Brink knows that building, as it now stands, has a lot of problems. Brink believes more judicial space is not just a want, but a need—especially with growing criminal numbers.
The Commissioners’ plan to scrap to former space study was not unanimous. It was done on a two-one vote, with Councliwoman Kellie Streeter opposing the move to start with a whole new plan.
