Duke Energy is planning to clear out vegetation overgrowth along several high-voltage power lines in the Mitchell and Petersburg areas.
The utility says the project will help ensure safe and reliable service across the Duke Energy electric system.
Since the high-voltage lines span several miles, and in some places cross rugged and remote terrain, a specialty contract helicopter tree trimming crew, using an aerial saw, will side-trim trees and vegetation along key power line corridors.
The work is scheduled to begin today (Thursday) and take up to three weeks to complete, depending on the weather.
