Two primary races are set for Republican nominations for the Indiana Statehouse, as contested elections loom in both Senate District 39 and House District 45.
The House District 45 race will feature incumbent Bruce Borders versys challenger Kellie Streeter. Streeter will vacate her Knox County Commissioner’s seat to run for the position this year. Her county position was not up for election when she narrowly lost to Borders in the Republican primary two years ago.
In the other race, so far, three Republicans are vying for the seat being vacated by current State Senator Eric Bassler. Jeff Ellington, Tanner Bouchie, and Kristi Risk have already filed for a primary run at the Republican nomination.
There is also a Republican primary election coming for the race for Knox County Recorder, as Vicki Bottoms will square off with Bake Wilson. There is also a race for the County Assessor’s nomination, as Ovi Ceceu will contest Woody Woodward.
At this time, those are the only contested races in Knox County. Anyone wishing to get on the May primary election slate must do so by noon on February sixth.
