Indiana State Police officials are looking into Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department shots being fired during a stolen car pursuit.
The incident happened January 16th, and involved a pursuit of a stolen vehicle. According to police, the vehicle stopped and attempted to back up. At that time, an un-named Sheriff’s deputy shot the vehicle, damaging it. The car was abandoned in a nearby wooded area, before the suspect allegedly stole a second car. Authorities arrested the driver a short time later. Sullivan County Sheriff’s deputies identified the arrested woman 31 year-old Marci Coleman of Jasonville. She is charged with theft and resisting law enforcement.
The shooting part of the case was turned over to the Indiana State Police for further investigation. That request came from Sullivan County Sheriff Jason Bobbitt. Coleman was not reported as being injured by the shots fired at the reportedly stolen vehicle.
