The Knox County Council is still waiting for possible assistance from the Indiana Legislature for cuts caused by Senate Bill 1. The massive tax cut passed last year by the General Assembly will take effect for taxes this year, payable next year.
Right now, not much as happened to relieve the burden on county and municipal governments. However Knox County Council president Mike Morris is still optimistic that something will happen. Morris reiterates the seven figure hit the County could take from the cuts.
The City of Vincennes is also looking at a looming cut of between 1.1 to 1.3 million dollars, due to the looming revenue cuts.
