Members of the Vincennes Street Department are being praised for their work in clearing City streets during and following last week’s winter storm. The street crews’ procedure was to clean off primary City snow routes first, then work on the secondary streets after that.
The area was under a travel emergency for the first days after the storm. Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum believes that led to more effective and quicker snow removal. Mayor Yochum also praises the leaders from other City departments who also pitched in to move snow in the City.
Some of the snow may continue melting some, with temperatures either at or above freezing. However, the serious meltdown is scheduled for next week, with temperatures right now pushing into the 50’s.
