An education-related bill streamlining the state’s education code is now in the hamds of the State Senate. The Indiana House approved the bill authored by House Education Committee chair Bob Behning .
Behning says the goal is the remove red tape from educators, to better let them teach their own kids. Overall, Behning likes what the bill does to help local school districts keep local control over their education mission.
The original bill stripped out requirements for AED’s at schools, and at school sanctioned events. It also removed an allowance of students with diabetes to manage their condition in class, and protect staff who hemp them. Both were restored, after a good number of people urged the return of the two items to the bill.
