The man accused of murdering a man with ties to Princeton was convicted of the crime in North Carolina.
A North Carolina jury has convicted Brandon Christopher Hyde of second-degree murder in the 2021 shooting death of Jeffrey Michael Goldbach. The Guilford County Superior Court jury reached the verdict last Friday after nearly five hours of deliberation.
The 41 year-old Goldbach, was shot while walking home on March 7, 2021. The Goldbach family released a statement Sunday thanking the jury, and noting that surveillance footage played a key role in the case. They also said they had stayed quiet during the trial to avoid affecting the prosecution.
Hyde is now in the Guilford County Jail awaiting sentencing.
