One man was rescued and another is missing following a truck-related floodwater rescue in Martin County. The area is a known flooding area on Spout Springs Road just south of Shoals, near the East Fork of the White River. Authorities report the affected truck entered the floodwaters, and was swept away by the force of the flooded river.
Indiana Conservation officials rescued a passenger from the truck, after he climbed out a window, and clung onto a nearby tree vine. The un-named man was rescued by Martin County Sheriff’s officials, along with members of the Shoals Fire Department. The driver, identified as 82 year-old James Petty of Fortville, is missing at this point. Search efforts for both Perry and the truck have been affected by swift moving water on that part of the White River. At this time, both surface and sonar searches are underway to find both Petty and the vehicle.
