Flood waters are dropping on the White River in southern Knox County. The White River at Petersburg is six feet over flood stage, but dropping. The White at Petersburg is forecaster to be back in its banks early this Saturday morning.
Downriver, the Wabash at Mount Carmel is current in minor flood stage, at 3 feet over its banks. There, the Wabash will be back to bankfull this Saturday. The main reason for the Wabash flooding at Mount Carmel is due to the very high White River joining the Wabash there.
Those in low-lying areas are reminded to keep flood precautions in place at least through this week. As usual, drivers are reminded not to cross flooded roadways.
