A crowd of people filled the Knox County Commissioners session yesterday to speak on future solar plants across Knox County. The discussion took around two hours, as the Board heard from the public following discussion the issue.
Among those discussing the issue is Commissioner Kellie Streeter. One of her main topics is where the solar panels should be placed. Streeter also is pushing for the panels themselves to be made in the U-S, or among countries friendly to this country.
Among the approved changes yesterday was a 300-foot setback for solar plants, and an 80 percent screening requirement for those plants. That proposal can either be done with vegetation or fencing. More discussion is expected between the Commissioners and the public at least in the coming weeks.
