The Illinois Senate is signing off on a 53-billion-dollar budget plan.
The Democrat-led Senate voted Sunday night to approve the spending plan, which largely mirrors Governor Pritzker’s budget proposal.
The budget does, however, exceed the governor’s initial proposal by 400-million-dollars and includes cost-of-living pay raises for lawmakers.
The bill now heads to the Illinois House, which could take it up this week.
