The Knox County Commissioners heard an update on the process to name projects for consideration in READI 2.0. The program is the state’s regional grant program for various parts of the state working together. Knox County is in the Indiana First reagion with several other counties, including Pike County.
Knox County Indiana Economic Development director Chris Pfaff told the Commissioners they are narrowing down the projects to around five or six for funding. A further narrowing is possible in the coming weeks and months.
Later this month, all the Indiana First region counties will meet with Indiana Economic Development Commission officials. At that time, the various counties will consider a way forward in submitting projects for I-E-D-C approval. Finally, Pfaff told the Commissioners County officials may put in one or two projects for a similar Lilly Endowment grant. That 250-million dollar endowment is for arts and culture-based projects, or those pushing blight mitigation and development.
