The Knox County Area Plan Commission has approved a couple of minor subdivisions for possible future commercial development.
The first is create three new lots at the Kimmel Pointe area just off Hart Street. The three lots will be just under an acre each; developer Heath Klein would then look for commercial interests to fill those locations.
The other is a just over one acre subdivision across from Kohl’s at Hart Street Road and Bierhaus Boulevard. The minor subdivision could be marketed for a restaurant; if that happens, the ground would have to be re-zoned from its current designation. It is current zoned R-A; for that type of commercial development, it must be rezoned to C-2. A-P-C director Colt Michaels says the developers could ask for that rezoning at the Commission’s July session.
