The Vincennes Board of Works received a check of nearly 43-thousand dollars from the Vincennes Housing Authority. The check was presented by V-H-A executive director Jackie Scott to the Board of Works as a payment in lieu of taxes. Since the V-H-A is a government agency, it is technically tax exempt. However, each year, the Authority gives the equivalent of its property tax bill to the City as a payment in lieu of taxes.
The Board accepted the payment unanimously.
