The Vincennes City Council approved the naming of Karen Schmeling as the newest member of the Vincennes Police Civil Service Merit Commission. Schmeling was approved on a six-one vote, with Councilman John Stangle voting for Jordan Christie. Stangle nominated Christie to take the position.
Schmeling will replace outgoing Merit Commission Howard Hatcher for the remainder of his term. About a year remains before the spot is up for re-appointment.
