A good chunk of the unseen work on Washington Avenue is nearly complete, as work continues on the drainage aspect of the project. The Washington Avenue work runs from the Kelso Creek Bridge southward to Emison Avenue.
Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum says the next step soon is to get the surface ready for paving. And, Mayor Yochum expects some drivable asphalt to be ready for the road by the beginning of the high school football season in mid-August.
The timeline is needed, since Vincennes Lincoln’s Inman Field football facility is near the under-construction part of Washington Avenue. The entire project will continue through the fall, weather allowing.
