The annual “Heaps of Jeeps” weekend starts later today and tonijght at Highland Woods Park on Hart Street in Vincennes. The first evening features some Jeep-based competitions, a raffle, and live music.
Tomorrow is the main day of the festival– including the annual Jeep poker run tomorrow morning. Heaps of Jeeps organizer Casey Yochum encourages people to line Willow Street toward the Memorial Bridge to see the Jeeps ride out.
The poker run will wind over the Memorial Bridge to the Lasata Winery in Lawrence County Illinois, before returning. Tomorrow evening, after the annual parade of Jeeps, there will be a first responder presentation. Co-organizer John Yochum reminds everyone the first responders are the biggest beneficiary of the entire weekend.
The evening activities begin at five-30 p-m tomorrow. Live entertainment will also be featured tomorrow night, with the band “Tailgate Revival” providing the musuc. Jeeps are not required for anyone to attend the weekend event.
