Hart Street traffic from 15th Street to Veterans’ Memorial Drive is now getting used to its new role as a three-lane road. Hart has slimmed down from a four-lane road with no left-turn lanes to a two lane road with a dedicated left turn lane,
Vincennes City Engineer John Sprague reminds everyone that affected part of Hart Street from 15th to veterans’ Drive will be completely closed to through traffic through then next couple of overnights. However, Kimmel Road will be open to traffic while the work is happening. Sprague says the overnight paving plan is at the request of contractor E and B Paving.
City officials claim safety– especially for left-turning traffic– is behind the change of that part of Hart Street from four lanes to three.
