According to the Indiana Destination Development Corporation, the recent solar eclipse had a total economic impact of about 148.5 million dollars on the state.
Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch says Indiana was a prime destination for the total solar eclipse since the Hoosier State experienced 100% or 90% totality.
The economic impact study, conducted by Rockport Analytics, also found that federal, state and local taxes generated by visitors totaled $45 million during the eclipse period.
Indiana welcomed over 3.5 million visitors to the state for the eclipse, representing a 45% boost to regular visitor volume and a 41.1% boost to regular visitor spending.
