The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is urging county residents to be aware of an ongoing phone scam in which the caller claims to be from the sheriff’s office.
The intended victim is told they missed a court date and have a warrant out for their arrest.
The caller wants the intended victim to meet in person and bring money.
The sheriff’s office says neither it, nor other law enforcement agencies, will ever call you requesting money.
In addition, you will not be called and told there is a warrant for your arrest.
If you get a call like this, hang up immediately and call the sheriff’s office.
