VPD Touting School Safety Measures to Keep Kids Safer

Vincennes Police Chief Jon Hillenbrand is praising safety improvements in the City’s schools. The issue has been heightened with various grants, and state and federal laws, in recent years.
One of the improvements has been continued placement of school resource officers in Vincennes Community and Vincennes Catholic schools. Hillenbrand says the S-R-O’s are the best school safety value going, dollar for dollar. Another safety feature in place is protective film around exterior school windows. Hillenbrand knows the film is not just good for safety from intruders.
Other safety measures include more secure school entrances, and faculty and staff training in emergency procedures.
