The Knox County Council has formally adopted a nearly 20 million dollar budget for the 2025. Council kept the numbers the same as was proposed at the end of their four-day budget session last month. The proposal now goes to the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance for approval, and any adjustments, as needed.
Council president Rich Chattin credits fiscal discipline for a stronger budget– if not an abundant one Councilman Harry Nolting had been Council president before Chattin was appointed as president to start the year. Over his time as Council president, up to know, Nolting credits a stronger cooperation with an easier budget process.
Another factor to help the budget is the passage of the LIT– or local income tax. That revenue has also helped free up funds for the current budget cycles.
