The Vincennes City Council has approved the 2025 budget and salary ordinance during last night’s session at City Hall. The meeting was moved one night from Monday night, due to Columbus Day.
City Council president Brian Grove says the new salary ordinance will give a pay bump for all departments. That also includes a bigger raise for City policemen and firemen. Grove also points to the amount of training for those public safety officials, and the time it takes to completely replace them, as reasons for their extra pay increase.
The ordinance, along with proposed property tax rates, will be reviewed, and adjusted as needed, by the state Department of Local Government Finance.
