The Indiana Department of Homeland Security says deep-frying a turkey may be a popular Thanksgiving tradition, but it also comes with serious risks.
The I-D-H-S says never fry a turkey indoors and keep the fryer on a level surface away from your home.
Be sure the turkey is completely thawed and dry before frying to avoid dangerous splatters.
Always have a fire extinguisher nearby and keep children and pets away from the fryer.
