A space study is the new frontier for Knox County government, as they work to re-purpose space in the former Knox County Community Corrections building. The facility across from the Courthouse on Eighth Street originally started its life as the Knox County Jail.
Knox County Commissioner Trent Hinkle says the final project is a collaboration between them and the Knox County Council. Hinkle knows the next step is getting a contract to put design ideas into place for the County’s properties.
Right now, the plan will focus on existing space available. County officials considered using the former Old National building at Third and Busseron, but that idea was dismissed earlier this year.
