Road safety in the winter months has been a main concern of the Knox County Highway Department this fall. With the recent blast of cold weather, and with the first winter weather system earlier this week, the issue of road safety has come to the fore.
Knox County commissioner Trent Hinkle knows County Highway crews have prepared themselves—and their trucks—to face the next winter weather event. ’ Hinkle says another major part of the work is crack sealing now, to prevent potholes from forming later.
Winter systems with rain, ice, and snow are more possible this winter, with a La Nina effect taking charge of this area’s winter weather this season.
