Mike Braun is Indiana’s new governor. Braun was sworn in Monday morning. The Jasper native succeeds term-limited Governor Eric Holcomb after winning the election in November.
Braun defeated Democratic nominee Jennifer McCormick and Libertarian nominee Donald Rainwater with 54-point-four percent of the vote compared to McCormick’s 41-point-one-percent and Rainwater’s four-point-five-percent.
Republicans have held the office of governor since Mitch Daniels won the 2004 election. The last Democrat to hold the Indiana Governor’s office was Evan Bayh.
