Indiana House Speaker Unveils Plan to Re-Draw Boundary Line with Illinois

      The Indiana House Republican Caucus intends to redraw state lines.
      Indiana Speaker Todd Huston announced a plan to welcome thirty Illinois counties into Indiana.
      Huston claims more than 30 counties have voted to secede from Illinois since 2020, with many expressing frustrations with high taxes.
      Huston authored House Bill 10-08 to create an Indiana-Illinois Boundary Adjustment Commission.
      The bill is being heard in the House Government and Regulatory Reform Committee.
      Adding the counties would require approval by the Indiana and Illinois legislatures, not to mention Congress.
