Government groups across Indiana are awaiting answers on the shape of possible property tax cuts being considered by the state Legislature. Those cuts are top priorities in lawmakers’ and Governor Braun’s agenda.
Knox County Councilman Kevin Meyer was one of a group of County leaders recently in Indianapolis discussing the issue. Meyer says at this point, the details are not even close to complete. If property taxes are cut statewide, that could mean less money for the state’s various government groups and school corporations. Meyer doesn’t know which group will be affected the most.
At this point, the property tax relief bill is being considered in the State Senate. After the bill is crafted, it must be approved by both Legislative changers, and signed into law by Governor Braun.
