The Indiana Department of Transportation is preparing the groundwork now for a full=season repave of State Road 441 coming through Vincennes. Right now, the prep work is expected to continue into April, with the main work following.
INDOT spokesman Gary Bryan says a repaving– and a re-shaping—is coming to the 441 corridor through Vincennes. The size reduction will take 441 on Willow Street from four lanes down to two, with a left hand turn lane in the middle. If all goes to plan, Bryan expects the project to only take one construction season to fix.
To this point, INDOT has been patching and covering over problems on that road. However, Bryan admits a full repave is needed, since the current surfacing on 441 has reached the end of its viable life.
