Flood levels are reaching above flood stage on area rivers, with flooding expected well above flood stage throughout this week
The Wabash River at Vincennes is forecast to top out at six feet over flood stage on Friday, at 22 feet. That is six feet over flood stage. At Mount Carmel, the Wabash will hit 12 feet over flood stage on Saturday, April 13th.
The White will be highest at Edwardsport, cresting there at 10 over flood stage, or 25 feet today, after a significant rise over the weekend. At Petersburg, the White is also forecast to crest at 25 feet today. Finally, the Embarras Rivet at Lawrenceville has hit 37 feet, and is slowly falling.
All those in low-lying areas are reminded to have their flood precautions ready. Also, drivers ure reminded not to drive across flooded roads, and the “turn around—don’t drown.”
