The Indiana Legislature is considering a good amount of property tax relief amendments as part of a compromise bill in the General Assembly. The final bill passed the Indiana House Ways and Means Committee 15-8; it is now headed back to the State Senate.
Representative Ed Delaney spells out one possible amendment to allow municipal governments to raise their local income tax.
As it stands now, the compromise bill would be filled with tax credits, rather than a return to 2021 property tax levels. Governor Braun has not yet made his opinion on the current measure known.
