Both the Knox and Daviess County Sheriff’s Departments urge the public to be aware of a text scam making the rounds in the area.
The scam text alerts to an alleged unpaid ticket that the potential victim owes. It also gives information to clear up the problem. Both departments remind it is a bogus text message.
Law enforcement reminds everyone to watch for subtle problems, including the use of the language Department of Motor Vehicles. Indiana’s motor vehicle office is the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. Further, Sheriff’s officials remind everyone no legitimate group would send a text message concerning any legitimate issue.
If you get this text, authorities urge you to delete it, and report it to your nearest law enforcement agency.
