The Vincennes City Council has approved a delay in a tax abatement for Schott North America for two weeks. The delay is for a nearly two million dollar, five year graduated abatement for a third production line at the plant.
Council president Brian Grove feels he and other Council members need more time to hash out the agreement. Both segments include approval of prior tax abatements, and approval of preliminary abatements. Grove emphasizes this move doesn’t mean the abatement issue is dead.
Council unanimously decided to delay consideration of the abatements until its session on June 23rd.
