The Vincennes City Council has approved on first reading an ordinance to amend fees for various signs and markings in Vincennes. As it stands, the ordinance would adjust the initial signage fee to 200 dollars, with a 50 dollar renewal fee each year following. The renewal fee would be due each January first for the year to come. Handicapped drivers with verified documentation from the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles would have the initial fee waived.
Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum says the new ordinance would tighten up on handicapped sign renewal fees. Mayor Yochum also points to an increased fee for the handicapped signage, and cleanup of places where the designated areas are no longer needed.
The ordinance will be considered again for possible final approval later this month.
