Vincennes City officials are preparing now for negotiations for their budget for 2026—but the real concern is for the 2027 budget. Legislative tax cuts and other measures have left cities scrambling to accommodate an expected loss of property tax revenue for that year.
Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum says just as they plan for the 2026 budget, they also have an eye on the reductions for 2027.
Mayor Yochum also gives a couple of places that may help to make up for the expected 2027 shortfall.
Yochum also warns as hard as it will be to plan for 2027, it could be even worse for City finances in 2028.
