Refinery Weather Troubles Reason for Short-Term Gas Spike

Weather issues at the Whiting Refinery in northern Indiana have pushed gas prices up sharply in this area in the last 36 hours.  BP’s refinery has suffered disruptions due to severe thunderstorms and flooding last week.

GasBuddy analysts say prices will likely go up more over the next several days before falling back after Labor Day.  However, the longer the repairs take, however, the longer prices will stay elevated in this area.
