The Vincennes City Council has made final approval of its 2026 budget numbers. The overall budget comes in just over 22.6 million dollars for next year. The largest line item of funding is just over ten million dollars for the City’s General Fund, with another 3 million for use of EDIT—or, economic development income tax—fundiung. The local option income tax fund will total just over one and three quarter million dollars.
The advertised property tax rate is at three dollars per 100 in assessed property value. The amount can be adjusted downward as needed, when the budget is reviewed by state officials. That review will happen in the coming weeks; the new budget as adjusted will go into effect on January first of next year.
