The Indiana Department of Natural Resources Forestry Division has given various area fire departments five-thousand dollar grants for department improvements. The departments will use the grants for water handling or safety upgrades.
In Knox County, the grants went to the Vincennes Township, Edwardsport, and Freelandville Fire Departments. In Pike County, the funding was targeted to the Petersburg and Jefferson Township Fire Departments. The Jefferson Township Department headquarters is in Otwell. In Greene County, the recipients were the Linton Fire Department, along with the Center-Jackson Fire district, and the Talyor Township Fire Department.
