The Knox County Salvation Army is wrapping up its weeks-long kettle campaign today, with a final appeal during Christmas Eve, Salvation Army volunteers will be ringing the bells through this afternoon at various retail centers across Knox County.
The Salvation Army’s campaign has been boosted by some various tradional challenges—including the annual City vs. County Bell Bash. Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum says this year, the City took the title. Other competitions included Police vs. Fire units, and also service clubs Rotary and Kiwanis doing battle. However, regardless of the outcome, Mayor Yochum knows who the REAL winner is– the Knox County Salvation Army.
However, even after the kettles are stored away later today, the Salvation Army will continue with its annual mail appeal. That will continue raising funds for the group through next month.
